Yankee Stadium serves as the home stadium for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB) and New York City FC of Major League Soccer (MLS), as well as the venue for the annual Pinstripe Bowl game. In 2009, it replaced the original Yankee Stadium. Yankee Stadium is one of the most expensive stadiums in history. Whoah! That’s mind-blowing.
Why is the Yankee Stadium the most expensive in history? Populous, an architectural firm, designed the stadium. The exterior was constructed from 11,000 pieces of Indiana limestone, granite, and precast concrete. It features the building's name V-cut and gold-leaf letters above each gate. Hundreds of photographs depicting the Yankees' history adorn the stadium's interior. The New York Daily News newspaper collaborated with the Yankees on the exhibition "The Glory of the Yankees Photo Collection," which was chosen from the Daily News' collection of over 2,000 photographs. The Yankees hired Sports & The Arts to curate the nearly 1,300 photographs that adorn the building from sources such as the Daily News, Getty Images, the Baseball Hall of Fame, and Major League Baseball. Wow! Amazing.
